Vision 25/25

Vision 25 25

To be more effective and efficient in the management of energy resources, the government has a strategy called Vision 25/25, which outlined commitments to:

  • Increasing utilization of renewable energy to 25% by 2025.

This vision is pushing the target above the 17% commitment set by the previous Presidential Regulation No. 5/ 2006 on National Energy Policy.  Currently, renewable energy only makes up 4% of the total energy resources being utilized.

  • Reducing energy demand by 33.85% to business as usual scenario in 2025.

The current energy demand is 1,131 million TOE and in 2025 is expected to be 4,300 million TOE.  With a variety of efforts, energy demand could be reduced to 2,852 million TOE.

The government's main policy includes:

1. Conservation of Energy to improve the efficiency of the use and utilization of energy (Demand Side).

2. Diversification of Energy to increase the share of renewable energy in national energy mix (Supply Side).
